Abhishek Banerjee attack: BJP slams Mamata Banerjee after her heated exchange with hospital CEO goes viral

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday slammed Trinamool Congress Supremo Mamata Banerjee for allegedly threatening Belle Vue Hospital CEO Pradeep Tandon over treatment of Abhishek Banerjee, who was attacked by a mob in Sonarpur.

“Shame on Mamata Banerjee for allegedly threatening Belle Vue Hospital CEO Pradeep Tandon and pressuring hospital authorities to admit Abhishek Banerjee despite medical reports indicating no significant injuries,” said Bengal BJP spokesperson Debjit Sarkar.

He further said that Banerjee’s behaviour represented “a disturbing attempt to misuse medical institutions for political narratives.”

After Abhishek Banerjee’s assault, the TMC had alleged that hospitals were given instructions to present the situation lightly.

TMC leader Kunal Ghosh alleged that Abhishek was not given proper treatment.

“We are not blaming any hospital, but wherever he goes, the same thing is happening. Instructions are being given. In the previous hospital also, a lot of time passed without proper treatment…Then the same instructions are being followed again to present the situation lightly and not show it as serious…,” he said.

However, the BJP asserted that hospitals exist to serve patients based on medical necessity, not political convenience.

“Any effort to intimidate doctors, administrators, or healthcare institutions undermines public trust and violates the basic principles of democracy and governance,” he added.

The BJP reaction came after a purported video of Mamata Banerjee went viral on social media.

In the viral clip, the former Bengal CM is purportedly heard telling the CEO, “Sorry… you have done the wrong thing. Please remember the help we have done for you. God will not excuse you…”

She continues, “You never treated a patient; you should be ashamed. Everybody will remember this arrogance… You are running the hospital, threatening the doctors because the BJP is in power.”

In the video clip, a group of men can be seen carrying Abhishek Banerjee on a stretcher. A few moments later, Mamata Banerjee is also seen walking behind them.
